Just a few weeks ago, Eurogamer shocked the world with its statement regarding the Nintendo NX. According to this gaming authority, the Nintendo NX is rumored to be a portable game console with two detachable controllers.
Also, according to their trusted sources, the Nintendo NX will be using Nvidia’s Tegra mobile graphics processor.
Now, the Nvidia Tegra X1 processor was released last year and although it was pretty good, it had its fair share of faults.
Nvidia has actually released their new “Pascal” architecture graphics cards and it was promised that this new architecture will have new innovation as well as performance baked in. Also, add in the fact that Pascal GPUs are more power efficient than its predecessor.
With that being said, a lot of people are asking why Nintendo NX, if Eurogamer’s statement is to be believed, is using the Nvidia Tegra X1 chip.
That is because the Tegra X1 chip is still based on the Maxwell architecture and not the new and more efficient Pascal architecture.
Well, the Nintendo community is shocked anew with a recent information leak about Nintendo’s upcoming game console.
Apparently, the Nintendo NX will use Nvidia’s Tegra mobile GPU but instead of using the past generation X1 chips, the Nintendo NX will be using the newer generation “Tegra X2” based on Nvidia’s new Pascal Architecture.
Technically speaking, the Nintendo NX will have four ARM-based Cortex A57 processing cores and two Denver2 Cores that will power Nintendo’s next flagship game console.
Furthermore, the Tegra X2 will sport the same power and efficiency evident in the new Pascal Desktop GPUs.
The thing about the new Pascal architecture is that it makes use of its resources more efficiently. In fact, people who bought the cheapest Pascal GPU right now, which is the GTX 1060, are already seeing marked improvements over the previous generation GPUs.
Furthermore, Nvidia is the only graphics card manufacturer that is committed to bringing new innovation to the fore. Not only that but their driver updates are extensive as well, bringing with it a slew of bug fixes and improvements and even new features as well.
If this new rumor is true, then I am really excited about the Nintendo NX. This means that if it is indeed using the new Nvidia Tegra 2 Graphics processor, we will be seeing a really powerful portable gaming console.
Now, this is not to say that the Nintendo NX can now rival the Playstation 4 and Xbox One in terms of graphical output but what I am saying is that the Nintendo NX will be a powerful portable gaming console because it will be the only one in the market that has amazing features baked into a small game console.
Still, this information is just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt. But man, I am now more excited than ever to see the Nintendo NX!
All we have to do now is wait for the official reveal. The Nintendo NX will be released in March 2017.
